Job Purpose
Safely implement capital projects for process plant including process design development, procurement, installation and commissioning
Key Responsibilities
1- Support GE Engineering team to investigate the potential suppliers from China on major projects undertaken by GE worldwide.
2- Support GE engineering to develop and follow-up initial/detail designs, components, manufacturing and layouts for capital projects.
3- Work in international cross-functional teams (project managers, engineers, designers, and manufacturing personnel).
4- Pilot the supplier from concept to completion (respecting schedule, quality and budget), report on progress and findings.
5- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to analyze designs with central team and ensure functionality, participate to the design reviews as follow-up.
6- Develop and implement solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
7- Prepare/judge FAT/SAT performance tests for equipment, redact report on findings. For FAT: redact punch list, analyse and define strategy to solve timely before shipment. Coordinate the documentation required for the packing and shipment of the mechanical equipment with supplier and logistics.
8- Supervise mechanical installation and commissioning work on project site, if is done according to Saint-Gobain EHS requirements, and technically correct. Expected travelling time is 10-30% of time on average, with possible peaks.
9- Assist with the Chinese contractors to provide the training for operators and maintenance personnel at project site.
10- Provide/update relevant documentation, design specifications, test reports, operating / maintenance manuals and return of experience of full work done. Report and align with suppliers as well.
Job Description
EHS Responsibilities:
1- When choosing contractors, review its EHS experience and integrate SG EHS standard.
2- Make sure that all machines, equipment, processes and circuits that are to be delivered to the site/operation shall be designed, manufactured, supplied and installed so that the site/operation can comply with the hazardous energy control guidelines in order to meet Lock Out Tag Out procedure requirements. It is his responsibility to review the suppliers’ product to ensure that safety issues are addressed. If he is not directly involved in the specifications, he should make sure the concerned person is asking for it and get it done.
Qualification Requirements
Typical Education Level:
1- Degree in Mechanical or Construction Engineering or similar discipline
2- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Engineering
Relevant experience, knowledge and skills:
1- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
2- Excellent communicator, well English Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing
3- Ability to produce working models using AutoCAD and Inventor or the equivalent.
4- Working knowledge of safety management system and standards.
5- Gas and burner safety standard – understanding of EN746
6- Knowledge/experience on CE marking, from risk analysis, safety level definition and implementation of tech. solutions to assist suppliers with this (can be in combination with specialized consultants).
7- Able to support/organize on construction calculation, or supervising suppliers with this, linked to local regulations of project location (wind/snow/seismic loads).
8- Site experience, either Operation, project installation and /or Multiple Project start-up, preferably in a highly automated, process or mechanical handling industry.
9- Ability to manage defined onsite activities e.g. elements of the design, installation, commissioning process.
10- Understands cultural differences and able to adapt behavior to operate effectively within cross cultural teams.
Optional:
1- Experience in some type of glass or mineral wool industry is a pre.
2- Experience of logistic aspects (incoterms, tax, etc.)
